tony bennett:
A chance Encounter
Andrew Walesch and His Orchestra
PERFORM THE MUSIC OF TONY BENNETT
FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND
JUNE 14 at 7:30pm
After a chance 30-minute encounter with Tony Bennett, Andrew Walesch spent many years preparing his homage to the singer that Frank Sinatra called “the best singer in the business.” Born Anthony Dominick Benedetto, Bob Hope urged him to use Tony Bennett as his stage name. Andrew’s tribute to his hero may include “Rags to Riches,” “Body and Soul,” “The Good Life,” and, of course, “I Left My Heart in San Francisco.” Woven through the hit songs is Andrew’s very personal account of meeting and eating with his musical icon. Saturday, June 14. It is not only Father’s Day Eve, but it is our country’s National Flag Day.

BIO
Singer and pianist Andrew Walesch encapsulates the sophistication of a cosmopolite and the self-effacing charm of a country boy. Whether composing and arranging or appearing in settings ranging from solo artist to big band, this Minnesota native, who crisscrosses the country playing dates big and small, is as respectful of his predecessors as he is ready to take a leap into the unknown and chart a new course. In his monthly, sold-out shows with his 10-piece band, Walesch is a traditionalist and an iconoclast rolled into one. His audiences include jazz enthusiasts of a certain age, as well as a younger crowd compelled by his down-home insouciance, and the knowing irreverence of a tried-and-true American nightclub entertainer.
