TLHD’s Commitment to OUR EARTH

Our theatre is built on our very own 22 acres of land, sharing the shore of Lake Le Homme Dieu. The beautiful landscapes provides our patrons with an immersive experience into nature and performing arts, which are a key parts of what makes our theatre unique and why we call it our "Theatre in the woods". It is important to our organization to contribute and make conscious efforts to care for that environment by choosing sustainable products for our theatre to use.

Concessions

Our concessions provide patrons with snack and beverage options as well as craft beer and premium wines. Our beverages are mainly served in aluminum cans, and glass bottles which are recycled separately on campus.

Our wine is served in eco friendly, recyclable plastic cups from WORLD CENTRIC.

These Cold Cups are made from PLA, a corn-based resin made from plants. These BPI-certified compostable cups are perfect for the needs and requirements of the food service industry as well as the individual consumer who is concerned about sustainability.

Rain

With recycling bins available around campus, plastic water bottles are most frequently filling our recycling bins.

Water bottles are our most purchased beverage with over 1,200 bottles sold a season. Introducing, RAIN.

RAIN Pure Mountain Spring Water is bottled in resealable 100% aluminum bottle.

It is encouraging to see our patrons choosing to recycle, and with RAINS resealable and reusable bottle, we are able to provide our patrons and guests with an alternative eco friendly water bottle option that will reduce our single use plastic consumption on campus.

Rootstock’s reputation is seated in European selections. The core of the European portfolio comes from importer and sister company WorldWide Cellars, specializing in sourcing wines from Italy and France, Spain and Austria. However, Rootstock’s team has done a superb job of adding domestic and new world producers who share the ethos of “winegrower” and all its connectedness to the land and terroir.

Rootstock’s ethos comes from the European classical tradition of “wine-growing” as opposed to “wine-making”: an organic process, rather than a manipulative one.

Campus

Our campus becomes home to some of our TLHD staff for the summer as well as to our visiting artists and performers during the run of their production. Campus beautification begins in the spring with the help of our staff and volunteers, and remains a focus throughout the summer. That is why choosing environment friendly option to maintain and beautify our campus is another part of our commitment to our EARTH.

Mosquito Squad

Mosquitoes and ticks are two pest that we, Minnesotans are familiar with. The Squad’s ingredients meet local requirements and are registered with the Environmental Protection Agency. Their highly-trained technicians take special care to avoid treating bloomed plants that attract beneficial pollinators such as bees.

Mosquito Squad understands the importance in our landscaping and grounds beautification.

With RAIN, World Centric, Mosquito Squad, rootstock, we can take a step toward conserving and improving the health of our environment as it shares its beauty with TLHD.
