“I had to find out where I came from. And to do that, I had to learn about my immigrant father and the life he had before I knew him.”

A young Minnesotan searches for information about his late father’s life, and finds a story of immigration and assimilation. Along the way, he begins to find himself. A 2019 Fringe Festival award-winning hit, updated.

Avi Aharoni

has performed all around town with a number of local companies. Most notably, he has worked with Transatlantic Love Affair/Guthrie Theater, Park Square Theatre, Dark & Stormy Productions, Theater Latté Da, Pillsbury House Theatre, and countless others. Previous Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company (MJTC) productions include Natasha and the Coat and Shul. In 2019 he endeavored on the toughest, scariest theatrical experience of his career: writing, producing, and starring in his one-man show, My Father’s Son (formerly knows as Operation: Immigration) for the Minnesota Fringe Festival. After winning a Golden Lanyard Award, he couldn't be more proud to expand this truly vulnerable piece for the screen at The MJTC, then on stage for Theatre L’Homme Dieu.
